As you return to campus you’ll notice many changes in the Wabash Dining Hall! The biggest change is that the Wabash Cafeteria is now an all you care to eat facility only. This means that instead of purchasing items ala carte on a declining balance basis, you will utilize a “meal swipe” and choose whatever items you’d like from the daily offerings. Other changes were prompted by the coronavirus pandemic and our efforts to keep the facility sanitary and safe.
Here is an overview of the biggest changes:
-You will now check into the cafeteria as apposed to being checked out
-If you are on a meal plan you will be charged one meal for your visit. If you are paying cash or credit, you will be charged 7.99, 8.99 or 9.99 for Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner. Everyone is eligible to purchase a plan through dining services.
-Your meal plan has two components, a meals per week component and a declining balance component. The declining balance can be used like cash at our retail locations in the Auditorium Lobby. Most plans allow for 14 meals per week and $250 per semester in declining balance spending.
-All “retail” items have been removed from the dining hall and these items will now be located in the Auditorium Lobby at our Starbucks and Franklin’s Pizza shop locations.
-The former main entrance to the cafeteria is now closed to allow for social distancing traffic patterns. The entrance and exit to the cafeteria is now on the South side at the cashier station area.
-All services and items that required customers to share utensils or utilize “high touch” items have been removed to enhance Covid-19 safety. Gone are the salad bar, soup station, juice machine, toaster and many other items.
-Salads are now being made to order at our Deli Station and soups and soy milk will be offered from the Market Place Station.
-The “Grab and Go” cooler cases will now offer items available as part of an all you care to eat meal: Quick serve sandwiches and salads, milk cartons, juice cartons, cut fruit, desserts and more.
-Carry out meals are only permitted when using one of our eco-green carry out containers. All students will be issued a container when they move into the residence hall. Faculty and Staff will be issued a container when first eating in the cafe. You can return the container dirty on your next visit and we will give you a clean one to use.
-The dining area is set up to promote physical distancing – please do not rearrange tables and chairs – this distancing is important to keep our community safe.
